Welcome To Shaftsbury Elementary's Computer Lab Website
Students at Shaftsbury Elementary are scheduled to visit the computer lab once per week. The content covered in the lab differs for different age groups. The youngest students (K-1) learn the basics of computers, how to manipulate the mouse and keyboarding skills, using a variety of programs. Slightly older groups (1-2), use programs to help develop reading skills as well as a variety of programs continuing in keyboarding and mouse skills. Grades 3 and 4 come to the computer lab prepared to build on their knowledge of software programs. They learn to create documents which tie in with curriculum from their classroom and/or library research. Grades 5 and 6 also tie in computer lab work with the curriculum from the classroom. They create projects using software to showcase what they have learned through their research.
